Baked Apple Walnut Crisp

Serves 6 | 

The perfect combination of sweet, tart and crunch.

Ingredients:

6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
Crumb Topping:
1 cup oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F.
  2. Place the sliced apples in a large mixing bowl, pour lemon juice over them and stir to coat.
  3. Combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon and in a small mixing bowl. Mix until small crumbs form.
  4. Pour the flour mixture over the apples and stir well. Transfer to a large inch baking dish. Set aside.
  5. To make crumb topping, place oats in a food processor and pulse for a few seconds. Transfer the oats to a mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar, flour, butter and chopped walnuts. Mix together well.
  6. Sprinkle the topping over the apples. Place baking dish in the oven and bake for 45 minutes, until the top is lightly browned, and the apples are soft.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool before serving.
