Sausage and Cornbread Stuffing

Serves 8 |
A savory accompaniment to the turkey.
Ingredients:
1 lb pork sausage |
1 stick butter, cubed |
2 cups chopped onion |
1 1/2 cups chopped celery |
2 cups breadcrumbs |
2 eggs, beaten |
2 tablespoons dried sage |
1 loaf cornbread, crumbled |
Salt, to taste |
Ground black pepper, to taste |
Directions:
- In a skillet, cook the sausage until fully cooked. Transfer the sausage to a plate, cover. Drain fat from the skillet.
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Melt butter in the same skillet. Saute onions and celery until crisp-tender.
- In a large bowl, combine sausage, onions, celery, breadcrumbs, eggs, sage, cornbread.
- Transfer stuffing to a baking dish. Place in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
