Duties & Responsibilities
Job Title: Part-Time Cake Decorator (Wednesday–Sunday Availability Required)
Position Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. This role is responsible for decorating cakes and baked goods to company standards and customer specifications, while supporting overall bakery operations. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and able to meet production timelines, particularly for custom and weekend orders.
Essential Job Duties
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations, including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, health, and packaging requirements
- Decorate cakes and baked goods according to company standards and customer specifications, ensuring accuracy, quality, and on-time completion for customer orders
- Use proper measurements, tools, and techniques to achieve consistent and high-quality decorating results
- Answer phones and assist customers with cake orders, providing friendly and helpful service
- Wrap, package, label, and price all bakery products accurately and legibly in accordance with established procedures
- Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise; verify deliveries for accuracy, quality, and condition
- Stock, rotate, and maintain bakery products in accordance with company policy, ensuring proper product dating and use of oldest product first
- Control freshness by coding products and removing out-of-code or spoiled merchandise daily in accordance with company policy
- Handle damaged or spoiled products appropriately and assist in minimizing shrink
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas, including tables, floors, cases, coolers, freezers, and equipment
- Monitor inventory levels and inform management of low stock or excessive spoilage
- Perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties throughout the department

Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Previous cake decorating or bakery experience preferred, but not required
- Friendly, outgoing demeanor with strong customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 200 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for 6–8 hours during an 8-hour shift
- Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- Repetitive hand use including grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to operate bakery equipment including knives, mixers, ovens, slicers, scales, wrappers, pallet jacks, and other tools as needed
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions and in varying temperatures (freezer, refrigerator, and hot kitchen environments)
- May require use of ladders
- Must obtain and maintain a Food Handler’s Permit
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, hot equipment, and other common kitchen hazards

Work Hours
Availability requirements include, but are not limited to, Thursday through Sunday, with flexibility for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
