Essential Job DutiesGreet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance.Maintain Unit Price Labels (tags) for all items, doing price changes as required.Keep shelves and displays fully stocked and faced at all times.Follow all safety procedures relating to opening cartons, rotation of product.Cleans and organizes grocery area as well as walk-in and freezer.Monitor grocery storage area for cleanliness, neatness and preparing for next shift; i.e. making bale, reclamation, plastic, pallets.Handle damaged or return-to-stock products according to company policy, with priority attention given to refrigerated, perishable items, and sell by date.Use and maintain equipment in good working order; immediately advise Department Manager or Store Management of any maintenance or equipment problems.Maintain Department sanitation and QA standards, including sweeping, mopping, removing cardboard and refuse as needed, and being able to operate a baler or compactor.Fully stock and rotate all merchandise in cases, shelves and other applicable displays according to tag allocation and department standards.Unload and secure received product in appropriate storage areas using power or hand jack, carts, U-boats as neededBlock and face all products as assignedEnsure that featured sale merchandise is attractively signed to stimulate sales.Accurately record markups and markdowns, in-store use of merchandise, and bad merchandise/spoilage write offs in accordance with Company policies.Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately.Adhere to all Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to the Grocery operation.Observe all safety regulations when operating equipment.Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Position Summary:The Meat Manager oversees all daily operations of the Meat Department, including production, merchandising, inventory management, food safety compliance, team supervision, and customer service. This position ensures department profitability, product quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies and procedures.This is an at-will position.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Department Operations & LeadershipSupervise, train, coach, and schedule department associates.Plan and execute daily production based on sales forecasts and company standards.Oversee ordering, receiving, inspecting, and storing meat and seafood products.Monitor inventory levels, control shrink, and participate in periodic physical inventories.Ensure accurate pricing, weighing, labeling, and product rotation (FIFO).Maintain proper staffing levels to meet operational needs.Meat Cutting & ProcessingCut, trim, bone, grind, portion, and prepare meat and seafood products according to company and food safety standards.Prepare value-added products and fulfill custom/special orders.Operate meat department equipment including band saws, grinders, slicers, knives, and scales safely and in compliance with safety standards.Food Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations including USDA, FDA, California Department of Public Health, Cal/OSHA, and weights and measures requirements.Maintain sanitation standards for cases, prep areas, coolers, and storage areas.Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including mesh gloves when using knives.Maintain required logs (temperature, cleaning, receiving, traceability, etc.).Customer Service & MerchandisingProvide prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service.Resolve customer concerns in a professional manner.Maintain attractive, full, and properly signed displays to maximize sales.Monitor product quality and remove unsellable or out-of-code merchandise.Administrative & Financial AccountabilityMonitor department sales, gross margin, labor expenses, and shrink.Implement action plans to meet financial and operational goals.Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.Other DutiesPerform additional duties as assigned.Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Minimum 2 years of meat cutting experience.Minimum 2 years of grocery retail experience; supervisory experience preferred.Knowledge of meat fabrication, yields, and retail merchandising.Working knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Must be at least 18 years of age.
