Apple, Bacon, and Caramelized Onion Pizza





Serves 6 |
The epitome of Autumn in one delicious pie.
Ingredients:
| 1 lb premade pizza dough |
| Flour, for dusting |
| 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced |
| 1 tablespoon canola oil |
| 1 tablespoon butter |
| 1/4 teaspoon salt |
| 1/2 cup shredded white cheddar cheese |
| 1/2 cup shredded fontina cheese |
| 1 red apple, thinly sliced |
| 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled |
| 1/4 cup gorgonzola cheese |
Directions:
- Sprinkle flour over a work surface. Stretch the dough.
- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Combine the canola oil and butter in a medium pan. Bring to medium-low heat. Add the onion. Cook and stir until golden brown. Then sprinkle with salt.
- Sprinkle half of the white cheddar and fontina over the pizza dough.
- Arrange the apple slices on the cheese. Then spread on the caramelized onions and bacon.
- Sprinkle with the remaining white cheddar and fontina over everything. Then sprinkle with gorgonzola cheese.
- Lay the pizza on a tray or pizza stone. Place in the oven to bake 15-18 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven. Cut into slices and enjoy!
