Bloody Sweet Candy Apples

Serves 6 | 

Scare your guests with these gruesome treats.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup corn syrup
1 bag white chocolate chips
3 drops raspberry flavoring, more if desired
6 red apples
4 drops red food coloring, more for deeper red
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup hot water, more for boiling
6 wooden skewers

Directions:

  1. Push skewers into tops of apples.
  2. Fill a pot with water, then place a bowl on top to create a double boiler. Add white chocolate chips to bowl and turn to low heat. Melt chocolate and continually stir.
  3. Dip apples 3/4 of the way into the melted chocolate. Coat evenly.
  4. Place apples on aluminum foil to let harden.
  5. In a pan, combine corn syrup, sugar and hot water. Turn heat to low and stir. Once sugar is dissolved, turn to high heat con continue to stir. Once boiling, remove from heat and add raspberry flavoring and food coloring. Stir very well. Let cool for a few minutes to slightly harden.
  6. Dip a flat spatula into sugar mixture and glaze tops of apples. Let red sugary topping drip down sides of apples. Let harden then enjoy!
