It doesn’t get any better than homemade!
Ingredients:
6 apples, your preference
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
6 wooden skewers
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Candies, optional
Directions:
- In a saucepan, combine corn syrup, water and sugar. Bring pan to boil on medium-high heat. Stir ingredients together until sugar dissolves.
- After sugar is dissolved, begin to swirl pan for 8-10 minutes, until mixture is amber in color.
- Remove pan from heat. Whisk in heavy cream, salt, vanilla extract and butter.
- Return pan to stovetop and reduce heat to low. Continue to whisk ingredients until a smooth texture.
- Remove pan from heat and let cool.
- Insert skewers into tops of apples. Dip and roll apples in caramel sauce. Coat evenly. Allow excess to drip off back into pan. Coat in candies, if desired.
