A delicious spin on the classic appetizer.

Ingredients:

12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
24 wonton wrappers
Vegetable oil

Directions:

  1. Cut each mozzarella stick in half horizontally. Set aside.
  2. Whisk together the egg and water in a small bowl to make an egg wash.
  3. Place a string cheese piece in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  4. Brush the edges of the wrapper with the egg wash. Fold the bottom corner over the cheese, then fold in the sides, and roll up tightly.
  5. Pour the oil in a deep skillet and bring to high heat.
  6. Working in batches, place the wonton mozzarella sticks in the skillet and fry for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  7. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.
