Classic Margarita with a Twist

Serves 1 |
A sweet citrus kick to the original recipe.
Ingredients:
2 oz agave tequila, silver or blanco |
1 tablespoon kosher salt, to salt the rim |
4 limes |
1/2 Valencia orange |
2 tablespoons light agave nectar |
4 ice cubes |
Directions:
- Pour a very small amount of the tequila onto a small plate. Pour kosher salt onto a separate plate. Dip the rim of the glass into the tequila. Hold upside down for a few seconds to let excess dip off. Dip the rim of the glass into the kosher salt. Set glass aside.
- Cut two limes in half. Cut a thin slice, as a garnish, from one of the limes. Squeeze the cut limes into the bottom of a drink shaker. Cut the other two limes and the Valencia orange into quarters. Place quartered limes and orange into the shaker.
- Pour the agave nectar into the shaker and muddle the ingredients together for two minutes. Use the cocktail strainer to strain the shaker contents into a small glass. Discard the solids from the shaker.
- Pour the liquid from the glass back into the shaker. Pour the remaining tequila, and the tequila from the plate into the shaker. Add ice cubes to the shaker. Cover and shake for 30 seconds. Use the cocktail strainer to strain the liquid into the serving glass. Add the thin slice of lime to the glass and enjoy!
