Serves 8 | 

Turning up the heat on the classic sandwich.

Ingredients:

2 lb ground beef
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
1 cup diced yellow onion
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 3/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon paprika
3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
8 slices muenster cheese
8 hamburger buns

Directions:

  1. Pour olive oil into a Dutch oven. Bring to medium heat. Once hot, add garlic, jalapeno and yellow onion. Cook for 8 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Add ground beef to the Dutch oven and cook until no longer pink.
  3. Pour in water, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, yellow mustard and white vinegar. Stir together well. Sprinkle kosher salt, black pepper, sugar, paprika and cayenne pepper over top and stir well.
  4. Place lid on Dutch oven and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Place a spoonful of sloppy joe on the bottom bun. Top with a slice of muenster cheese. Place top bun on to make sandwich and enjoy!
