Beef, Cheese, and Mushroom Pita Pockets with Tzatziki Sauce





Serves 4 |
Hearty, flavorful comfort food.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil |
1 brown onion, finely chopped |
2 cloves garlic, minced |
1 lb ground beef |
8 oz mushrooms, diced |
1 teaspoon smoked paprika |
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin |
Salt, to taste |
Black pepper, to taste |
4 pita pockets, warmed |
1 cup shredded mozzarella |
Tzatziki sauce, for serving |
Directions:
- Pour the olive oil into a large skillet. Bring to medium heat.
- Saute the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes, until fragrant and softened.
- Add the ground beef, cook for 5-6 minutes, until browned. Drain the skillet.
- Stir in the mushrooms, cook for 3-4 minutes, until softened.
- Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Remove the skillet from the heat and set it aside.
- Stuff the pita pockets with the beef and mushroom mixture. Sprinkle on the mozzarella.
- Place the pitas in the broiler and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the cheese has melted.
- Drizzle the tzatziki sauce over the cheese. Enjoy!
