Serves 8 |

The perfect amount of savory, sweet, and tangy.

Ingredients:

For the Balsamic Vinegar Onions:
3 large yellow onions, halved and sliced
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
Water, for the pan
For the Burgers:
2 lb ground turkey
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon dried thyme
8 hamburger buns, toasted
8 slices provolone cheese

Directions:

  1. Place the sliced onions into a large pan. Pour in the balsamic vinegar. Stir together. Place the lid on the pan and cook, untouched, for 20 minutes, over medium heat.
  2. Remove the lid and continue to cook, stirring every few minutes, until the onions begin to caramelize. Pour 1/3 cup of water into the pan, cook and stir until the liquid is gone. Repeat this process until the onions are fully caramelized. Remove the pan from the heat. Cover to keep warm. Set aside.
  3. Combine the ground turkey, garlic, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme in a mixing bowl. Form into 8 burger patties.
  4. Bring a large skillet to medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties in the skillet in batches, for about 7 minutes per side. During the last minute on the flipped burger, place a slice of provolone on each burger. Place a lid on top and let the cheese melt.
  5. Place a burger patty on each bottom bun. Top the burgers with caramelized onions. Place the top bun on the caramelized onions. Enjoy!
