Old-Fashioned Plum Crumble





Serves 8 |
Sweet, tart and crumbly. Perfect with vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1 egg, (lightly beaten) |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/4 teaspoon ground mace |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
7 black plums, (pitted and quartered) |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 stick butter, (melted) |
1 1/3 cups flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375° F.
- Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, plums and 1/3 cup flour in a mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Spoon mixture into a 2 quart baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine salt, sugar, mace, baking powder and 1 cup flour. Stir together well. Add egg and mix with fork until crumbly.
- Spread crumb mixture evenly over plum mixture. Drizzle on melted butter.
- Place baking dish in oven, bake for 40-45 minutes. (Top should be golden brown)
- Remove from oven, let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
